Advanced driving course offered to Bolton residents

Bolton and District Advanced Motorists is inviting residents to attend an introduction event in Lostock on October 30 to learn more about its advanced driving course.
The session will take place at Lostock Parish Centre on Tempest Road from 7pm.
Roy Sammons, chairman of the group, said: “We are the only volunteer driving group in the area dedicated to improving the skills of all drivers, by taking them though the course, to become more confident and observant driving on today’s busy and congested roads.”
The course is open to all full licence holders, regardless of age or experience, but is especially recommended for younger drivers who may benefit from additional training after p***ing their test.
The group describes it as a valuable opportunity for less experienced motorists to gain practical skills for safer driving.
Mr Sammons said: “Let’s face it, we all want to be as safe as we can be, when driving our loved ones around.”
He also mentioned that the course could be helpful for those considering switching to an electric vehicle, as the group offers independent and impartial advice.
The Bolton and District IAM RoadSmart group is run by trained volunteers who have p***ed Institute of Motor Industry (IMI) driving and theory tests.
Currently marking its 55th anniversary, the group has supported thousands of drivers across Bolton, Wigan, and Salford in becoming advanced drivers.
