Woman in hospital after baby found dead at Perth house

Police are investigating the death of a baby in Perth’s southern suburbs.

The eight-month-old was discovered dead at the house in the Rivergums Estate in Baldivis just after 10am on Thursday.

Police say they were called to the house along with St John Ambulance, but the baby had already died.

“Inquiries into the cir***stances surrounding the child’s death are being undertaken. The death is being treated as suspicious,” a WA police spokesperson said.

A woman in her twenties was taken to Rockingham Hospital for treatment from the scene.

The street has been cordoned off by detectives, who have spent the morning investigating the home.

Officers said a woman has been helping police with inquiries, but they have not confirmed if it is the same woman who has been taken to hospital.
