Tamara Lich faces Ottawa court after challenging sentence conditions

I’m back in Ottawa today to follow the hearing for Tamara Lich’s application to vary her sentence. And I will be live-posting updates on X throughout the day before bringing you a full recap of what the Crown prosecutor and Tamara Lich’s lawyer, Lawrence Greenspon, argue in court.

On July 22, my boss, Ezra Levant, was called to testify about the affidavit he submitted explaining why Tamara’s conditions need to be reviewed so she can properly do her job.

But instead of focusing on that, the Crown spent much of its time putting Rebel News on display, pulling up our website, revisiting previous interviews between Ezra and Tamara, and heavily focusing on Ezra’s criticism of the court proceedings and rulings in Tamara’s case.

Tamara was sentenced in 2025 to an 18-month conditional sentence including house arrest, a curfew, and hundreds of hours of mandatory community service, on top of the 49 days she already spent behind bars.

This is the longest prosecution for non-violent mischief in modern history. The trucker convoy was the most peaceful we have ever seen in Canada, with people from all walks of life coming together to demand their basic freedoms from Trudeau’s authoritarian government. And yet, Tamara continues to pay the price.

In my view, this is a political prosecution, an attempt to make an example out of her and send a warning to anyone willing to stand up to government overreach. It’s shameful.
