Job description: Job Description:To act in a technical capacity in producing WSP engineering related project drawings relating to Primary Engineering for Transmission & Distribution, Renewable (Onshore & Offshore wind/ Solar), BESS projects. This includes (but not limited to):
- Create detailed engineering drawings for Extra High Voltage (EHV) projects, covering both Air Insulated Substations (AIS) and Gas Insulated Substations (GIS), ranging from 11kV up to 400kV (with a particular emphasis on 132kV voltages and above)
- Preparation and development of EC&I deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, loop drawings, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment design and switchgear configurations using both 2D and 3D software packages;
- Develop darwings to support detailed engineering, such as Land Utilisation Plan, Elevations, Above and Below Grade Conduit layouts, Grounding layout & it’s connection details, Lighting and Lightning protection with respective details, Bill of Materials, CDM, MEWP layouts.
- Facilitate coordination of design activities across various departments, including Civil/Structural, Networks, and Transmission Line. Conduct design reviews, participate in virtual meetings, and collaborate closely with clients.
- Assist with preparing drawings and revising existing engineering drawings of basic components from specific sketches or layouts.
- Responsible for adhering to company and client drafting standards and procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to the drafting practices of selected discipline.
- Assist in drafting design and do***entation for various projects.
- Coordinate with team members and monitor project schedules, ensuring submissions meet high-quality standards.
- Maintain compliance to CDM Regulations and all other legal and regulatory requirements ***ociated with the nature of substation and electrical system design.
- Collaborate with WSP UK office on design activities.
- Develop and enhance processes, tools, and potentially implement new technologies into the design process.
- Periodic Quality check to be conducted for other engineers & designers.
- Exhibit ingenuity, foresight, and wise decision-making skills in proactively identifying and resolving challenges.
- Contribute to the progress and growth of departmental tools and workflows aimed at improving the effectiveness of design processes, specification development, and project implementation.
- Engage in training sessions and meetings dedicated to addressing targeted organizational initiatives.Qualifications
- Possess a Diploma or ITI in electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
- Have a minimum of two years and a maximum of six years of experience in the field of Substation Transmission & Distribution, Renewable (Onshore & Offshore wind/ Solar), BESS projects.
- Preferably familiar with UK projects. Experience of working in a lead substation design role on National Grid Electricity Transmission projects (or other UK utilities like SSEN, SPEN etc.) in the UK will be an added advantage.
- Experience in Onshore wind, Offshore wind, Renewable (solar) and BESS projects is preferred.
- Familiarity with 3D tools (Revit) for Engineering design is desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong problem solving and blockytical skills.
- Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.
