Good Things Festival is bringing together generations of alternative music this December, from legendary punk bands and nu-metal favourites to modern metalcore heavyweights and pop-punk hitmakers. With so many artists on the bill, now is the perfect time to revisit the clblockics, discover a few new favourites and build a playlist before festival day arrives.
Not sure where to start? Here are 10 albums we’d recommend spinning before heading to Good Things Festival 2026.
1. Limp Bizkit – Significant Other (1999)
If you’re heading to Good Things for Limp Bizkit, this is essential listening. Significant Other helped define the nu-metal explosion, pairing huge riffs with hip-hop influences and an unmistakable sense of attitude. Start with Nookie, Break Stuff and Re-Arranged before diving into the full record.
2. Simple Plan – No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls (2002)
Few albums capture the early-2000s pop-punk era quite like Simple Plan‘s debut. Packed with catchy hooks and songs about growing up, relationships and feeling misunderstood, it’s the perfect record to revisit before singing along with thousands of fellow fans. I’m Just a Kid, I’d Do Anything and Perfect remain essential listening.
3. Spiritbox – Eternal Blue (2021)
For anyone wanting to understand why Spiritbox have become such a major name in modern metal, Eternal Blue is an excellent starting point. The album moves between crushing heaviness, atmospheric pblockages and soaring melodies, with Holy Roller, Circle With Me and the title track showing different sides of the band’s sound.
4. Polaris – Fatalism (2023)
Sydney’s Polaris deliver an emotional and technically sharp take on modern metalcore on Fatalism. It’s a record full of mblockive choruses, intricate riffs and moments of outright aggression. Give Inhumane, Overflow and The Crossfire a spin before catching the band on home turf.
5. The All-American Rejects – Move Along (2005)
This album is practically a greatest-hits collection in its own right. Dirty Little Secret, Move Along and It Ends Tonight helped make The All-American Rejects a defining band of the era, and the record remains a brilliant reminder of just how powerful a perfectly written pop-rock chorus can be.
6. Alexisonfire – Crisis (2006)
This one is particularly easy to recommend because Alexisonfire are scheduled to perform Crisis in full at Good Things. The record is a defining moment in post-***, balancing ferocious screams, melodic vocals and mblockive guitar work. Essential tracks include This Could Be Anywhere in the World, Boiled Frogs and Rough Hands.
7. Millencolin – Pennybridge Pioneers (2000)
If melodic punk and skate-punk are your thing, make time for Millencolin‘s Pennybridge Pioneers. The Swedish band’s fourth album is packed with infectious guitar riffs and energetic songwriting, including No Cigar, Fox and Penguins & Polarbears. Millencolin will also perform the album in full at Good Things, making this one an especially worthwhile pre-festival listen.
8. Bad Religion – Suffer (1988)
Bad Religion‘s influence on punk rock is enormous, and Suffer remains a key entry point into their catalogue. Its short, sharp songs and melodic intensity helped shape the sound of generations of punk bands. Listen to You Are (The Government), Do What You Want and Suffer to get a taste of the band’s enduring appeal.
9. Grinspoon – Guide to Better Living (1997)
A Good Things playlist wouldn’t be complete without some Australian alternative rock. Grinspoon‘s debut helped establish the band as a major force in the local scene, combining heavy guitars with an irreverent edge. Pedestrian, Just Ace and DC×3 make this a great record to revisit before seeing the band live.
10. Bilmuri – KINDA HARD (2026)
If you’re after something a little different, Bilmuri is well worth your attention. The brainchild of Johnny Franck, the project blends alternative rock hooks, heavy metal riffs, emo introspection and unexpected country influences into a sound that’s difficult to pin down. KINDA HARD pushes that genre-hopping approach even further, balancing chunky guitars and infectious melodies with plenty of left-field surprises. Start with More Than Hate and Hard2tell before diving into the full album, and get ready for one of the more unpredictable sets on the Good Things Festival lineup.
