Who Wants Film Chamber Elections Not To Be Held?

The Current Body of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce is going to finish its term by July 30th.

The Elected Body of the Chamber has a two-year term, but the President has only a one-year term. The Body Members elect one of them as the President by an internal election.

The President’s post will rotate between the studio, exhibition, distribution, and producer sectors.

The next President should be from the Exhibition Sector.

This comes at a crucial time when the Exhibitors have threatened a Strike demanding the Percentage System.

A Committee has been appointed with the members of the Exhibitors, Distributors, and Producers to look into the Problems and suggest a way out.

The Chamber President will also have access to the Government.

That means the President from the Exhibition Sector will mean the problems of the Exhibitors will be more highlighted in the Government meetings.

At this juncture, having a President from the Exhibitors Sector is risky, some opine.

And so, they are trying to stop the election for another year and continue the current President Bharath Bhushan for one more year.

The EC Meeting of the Chamber will meet this month-end and is supposed to take a decision on the election.

There will be efforts to convince the Body to defer the elections.

As per the past precedent, the Elections should be completed and a new President should be elected by July 30/31.

So far, the Chamber elections have never been deferred except during the Corona.

If the plan for deferring the elections is not possible, Plan B is that there will be efforts to have a Yes-Man from the Exhibitors Sector to be elected.

However, the prime agenda is to defer the elections because it is not always easy to dictate the result of an election.
