Trump will authorize attacks on Iran: Ian Bremmer

(NewsNation) — Ian Bremmer, president and founder of The Eurasia Group, believes President Trump will ultimately sign off on attacking Iran’s nuclear site in Fordow.

Bremmer joined “CUOMO” on Tuesday to discuss the ongoing war between Israel and Iran, with both exchanging airstrikes through the fifth day of conflict.

“My view at this point is that Trump is going to authorize attacks on Fordow, specifically on this one major nuclear location that is under the mountain, under 300 meters of solid rock that the Israelis cannot hit themselves,” Bremmer said.

“I don’t think it’s necessary. I think there are other options. I don’t think it’s as urgent as Trump has made it out to be … He’s already kind of painted himself in a corner. It doesn’t mean he can’t come out of it, but if you ask me what he’s going to do in the coming days, I fear that’s the decision.”

Earlier Tuesday, Trump urged Iran to completely surrender and claimed to know the whereabouts of Iran’s supreme leader but stopped short of threatening his life outright.

Despite differing opinions among the Republican Party and Trump supporters, Bremmer believes there’s a means by which he could get widespread support for the move.

“If Trump says, ‘That’s it, I gave them a warning. I told them to surrender. They refused. They had a last chance, so now I’m going to go in and kick their butts and I’m taking them out. They wouldn’t give away their nuclear program. I’m destroying it.’

“I think that announcement will get very broad support from his base, and certainly from Republicans in the House and Senate,” he added.
