If you missed seeing Snow White in theaters, Disney’s controversial live-action film is now available to purchase and rent on digital sites like Prime Video and Apple TV+. Read on to learn how to watch Snow White at home for your next movie night – and what bonus features are included.
Starring Rachel Zegler, Snow White (2025) is a live-action reimagining of the 1937 animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, which itself is based on the Brothers Grimm’s 1812 fairytale, “Snow White.” Andrew Burnap portrays Snow White’s love interest, while Gal Gadot plays the Evil Queen.
“A beautiful girl, Snow White, takes refuge in the forest in the house of seven dwarfs to hide from her stepmother, the wicked Queen,” the official synopsis reads. “The Queen is jealous because she wants to be known as ‘the fairest in the land,’ and Snow White’s beauty surpasses her own.”
The film premiered in March 2025 amid controversy, from Zegler’s comments about trying to make the movie a “girl boss” story, to her and co-star Gadot’s opposite views on the Israel-Palestinian conflict, to moral concerns around the seven dwarfs characters and the use of CGI.
Snow White also struggled at the box office, earning just $86 million domestically. The movie also has one of the lowest Rotten Tomatoes scores for a Disney live-action remake, with a 40% critics score from 255 reviews. (Audiences, however, gave the film a solid 72%.)
Despite negative reviews, some critics praised the film. Variety’s Owen Gleiberman called Snow White “one of the better live-action adaptations of a Disney animated feature.” The Hollywood Reporter critic David Rooney commended the performances, saying, “this is the type of wholesome and uplifting family entertainment that comes directly from old-school Disney DNA.”
