Manchu Vishnu’s ambitious pan-India film Kannappa featuring a star-studded cast from across industries, is all set to release tomorrow.
Ahead of the release Vishnu held an elaborate press meet where he addressed a wide range of questions from the media—covering everything from the film’s content and business model to various controversies surrounding it.

One of the key takeaways was his confidence in the film.
Vishnu clarified the speculation that he hasn’t sold the OTT rights, implying he believes in letting the film prove itself at the box office.

He confirmed that the OTT rights for Kannappa have not yet been sold—a significant risk in today’s industry where most producers prefer to close digital deals before release.
The fear, as many producers admit, is that once a film releases, OTT platforms often renegotiate or offer lower amounts.

However, Vishnu Manchu seems unfazed.
During the press interaction, he confirmed that Kannappa will not be available on any streaming platform until at least 10 weeks after its theatrical release.
That’s a rare stance for Telugu films today, where even big-ticket movies typically hit OTT within three to four weeks due to either lucrative deals or poor box office performance shortening their run.
Vishnu also pointed out how OTT platforms have started dictating release deadlines, but in his case, he doesn’t have to deal with those constraints.
He’s firmly sticking to a longer theatrical window, he said.
Kannappa premieres in the U.S. starting from noon and will release across Telugu states and the rest of India tomorrow.
