Arrest as car ‘crashes into tree’ on Union Street, Tyldesley

The crash is believed to have happened off Union Street in Tyldesley on Tuesday November 4 and appears to have involved a single car.
Officers say that a driver has now been arrested on suspicion of “numerous offences”.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Yesterday there was an isolated incident involving a car crashing into a tree off Union Street.
“The driver left the scene, prompting a swift response from local officers.
“A number of units were deployed to the area, and the individual was successfully traced and detained at a nearby property.
“The driver was arrested on suspicion of numerous offences.
“We’d like to re***ure residents that the situation was handled promptly and there was no ongoing risk to the public.
“Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation.”

An image supplied by police at the scene shows a black Skoda that appears to have crashed into the tree with police cars parked nearby.
