‘Possibly stolen’ and ‘dumped# bikes recovered in Bolton

The incident took place near Crompton Way in Bolton at around 6pm yesterday, November 6.
Police were called to reports of the two road bikes being dumped by “two men”, before they ran off.
Officers have now recovered both of the bikes and believe that they may have been stolen.
It is not clear where along Crompton Way it took place.

A spokesperson for GMP Bolton said: “Two bikes, which have possibly been stolen, have been recovered this evening, Thursday.
“Around 6pm, Greater Manchester Police received reports that two men had been seen dumping two road bikes and running off near to Crompton Way.
“Officers have attended and recovered both these bikes and we believe they may have been stolen from somewhere.
“If you believe these bikes are yours, please contact 69656@gmp.police.uk.”
This comes after police have been running events in Bolton to mark people’s bikes as an anti-theft measure.
It comes under the BikeRegister scheme, which is a national database used by every police force in the UK to help track and identify stolen bikes.
Adding a bike to the scheme is free, although riders are able to buy additional security markings to deter would-be thieves.
