Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened attacks Iran “cannot even imagine” after the countries exchanged rocket fire for a second day.
In a video address early on Sunday, Netanyahu warned that Israel’s pilots “will deal blows to the Ayatollah regime that they cannot even imagine”, after Israeli attacks targeted the Iranian defence ministry and oil infrastructure.
Explaining Israel’s decision to launch a wave of attacks starting on Friday, Netanyahu said Iran was “planning to give the nuclear weapons that they would develop to their terrorist proxies”, which “would threaten the entire world”.
He said Israel’s operations had the “clear support” of US President Donald Trump. Washington has stated that it was not involved in the Israeli attacks, and Trump has called for the fighting to end.
