Even minor car crashes can be scary for those involved in them, and I’m not just talking about humans. It’s even more unfortunate when these accidents happen while a driver has their beloved dog riding along with them. For a pup who has no concept of what a car accident is or even that it’s something that could possibly happen, it has to be so terrifying and confusing.
But then, there are people like the ones in the TikTok video below who make all the difference. When Florida firefighters responded to a crash, they were sure to comfort the dogs who had been riding in the car with their mom.
In the footage that was shared by Fox 13 Tampa Bay on TikTok on July 7, Palm Beach County firefighters can be seen snuggling two dogs and even letting them hang out in the fire truck after their mom, Gabriella Obregon, got into a car crash while driving on the Florida Turnpike.
According to what Obregon told the news outlet, she lost control of her vehicle when her car slipped and spun out, hitting the barrier on the highway in the process. Her first concern was her dogs, who are named Simba and Aslan.
“What scared me most was having my dogs with me,” she said. “After calling 911 and my parents, I got out of the car and was waiting when a group of Palm Beach firefighters showed up.”
Fortunately, she and her dogs were in good hands. Once the firefighters made sure she was safe, they checked on Simba and Aslan and carried them to safety.
As you can imagine, Obregon shared just how grateful she is that these firefighters took such good care of her and her pups.
“Their job is dangerous and draining, and I know it’s the kind of work that can harden people over time. But these men were the opposite,” she said. “They were selfless, full of heart, and radiated a kind of joy that reminded me there’s still so much good in this world. I’ll never forget what they did for me and my dogs.”
This simple act of kindness has obviously gone such a long way for Obregon and her dogs at a time when they really need it.
It’s stories like these that really restore all my faith in humanity!
