The Biggest Undercard Fight on the Card
Tony Harrison’s return to the ring is one of the more intriguing subplots on the Shields-Daniels undercard. The former WBC super welterweight champion is fighting for the first time in over two years, stepping up to middleweight to face Edward Ulloa Diaz.
Harrison spoke to FightHype about his comeback and more.
He is looking to shake off a long layoff and reestablish himself as a factor in a new weight clblock. Diaz isn’t a big name, but he’s younger, active, and motivated to make a statement by upsetting a former world champ. If Harrison looks sharp, this could be the first step toward getting another opportunity on a card with some shine.
The Bottom Line in the Shields-Daniels
If Daniels does anything besides give it her best in an incredibly lopsided fight, we’ll all be shocked. Can Shields get the stoppage? That’s probably the element of intrigue here as the GWOAT has just one win by stoppage in the last eight years.
While she did score TKO victory over Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse almost a year ago to the day, the KO wins have mostly eluded Shields. She dropped Danielle Perkins in her last fight in February, but the latter got to her feet and finished the fight.
