(NewsNation) — The trial against Bryan Kohberger is just a few months away, but family and friends of the victims will have their voices heard in a new doblockentary, a report said.
A new doblockentary on Amazon Prime, “One Night in Idaho: The College Murders,” will spotlight the morning after the four University of Idaho students — Xana Kernodle, 20; Ethan Chapin, 20; Madison Mogen, 21; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21 — were killed in their home off campus in 2022.
“Told in captivating, tense, and emotionally wrenching detail by only those involved in and affected by the crime, the series intimately explores this American tragedy and its continued impact and fallout,” described Amazon Prime in a press release.
Chapin’s brother, Hunter Chapin, appears on the docuseries, reliving what it felt like for him and his sister after the killings. “There’s this person out there who had just murdered our brother, and he’s still out there somewhere.”
Bryan Kohberger arrested after DNA found on knife sheath
Kohberger was first arrested in December 2022 after he was allegedly linked to the crime scene by DNA recovered from a knife sheath. Investigators also traced the location of Kohberger’s cell phone and obtained surveillance footage that showed a car, which appeared to be the same make and model as his, driving to and from the crime scene.
Kohberger’s defense team argued he was driving by himself on the night of the murders, and he maintains his innocence. He has been charged with four counts of murder and one count of felony burglary. If convicted, Kohberger could be sentenced to death.

At the end of 2024, Karen Laramie, Mogen’s mother, spoke with the Today show about Kohberger’s trial being pushed back several times. She said, “I don’t have a lot of comments on that. I would say that the legal system is not about the victims, and I’ll leave it at that.”
At the time of the students’ deaths, Kohberger was a Ph.D. student at Washington State University, majoring in criminology. His university is about eight miles from where the students were killed.
The series is set to premiere on July 11.
