Dr. Shelly Sharma shares an acute case of recurrent multiple renal calculi in an 8-year-old boy. Highly disciplined, mild and soft-spoken were characteristic traits that led to the simillimum.
Introduction: Homeopathy is often considered limited in cases involving severe pathology or conditions beyond the body’s physiological healing capacity. However, this case stands as a testament to the profound healing potential of homeopathy when the correct remedy is selected.
This case involves an 8-year-old boy who consulted our clinic with six renal calculi, the largest measuring 2.5 cm and 2.9 cm. The larger stone had caused architectural dilatation along with grade III hydronephrosis and hydroureter.
Following a single dose of the appropriate simillimum, the 2.9 cm stone was expelled from the body within just 15 days, astonishing the radiologist. The case underscores that the true focus should not be merely on the remedy itself but on the meticulous process of arriving at the correct simillimum.

Remedies which repertorized are Nux, Carc and Sulphur, so how do we differentiate these remedies? Nux vomica has the highest score but we do not see the irritability in this child or an over ambitious nature. The child is also not very much domineering like Nux but a very submissive and disciplined child.
The next closest remedy was Carcinosin but we miss the grace and aristocracy which they carry. There would be a sense of art in the Carcinocin and they would be beautifully communicative. Also, Carcinocin is a very pblockionate nature but this child was routine, disciplined and of reserved nature.
We rule out Sulphur as we do not find a very curious nature. Also, Sulphur children are usually confident, have good eye contact and they will always be very communicative in the clinic.
Prescribed Remedy: Based on the totality of symptoms, the remedy selected was Kali Sulphuriblock 200C.
Follow-up and Outcome:
- 15-day follow-up: A new ultrasound revealed that the 2.9 cm stone had been naturally expelled from the body. The radiologist was initially skeptical and rechecked previous reports to confirm the findings. The patient showed improvement in appetite and overall activity levels.
- One-month follow-up: Only a 3 mm stone remained. Hydronephrosis and pyelonephritis had significantly improved.
- Eight-month follow-up: The patient remained asymptomatic, with no recurrence of major symptoms.
Understanding Kali Sulphuriblock in Children: Children requiring Kali Sulphuriblock tend to be highly disciplined, mild, and soft-spoken, with a submissive facial expression. They are reserved, deeply involved in their work, and maintain cleanliness and order. Their attire is typically simple yet elegant, avoiding flashy clothing. They are obedient in a clinical setting and respond to questions precisely.
Unlike other Kali remedies that exhibit quarrelsomeness or selfishness, Kali Sulphuriblock individuals display generosity and a pblockion for knowledge, influenced by the Sulphur element.
Conclusion: This case serves as a remarkable example of how homeopathy can transcend conventional medical expectations. Despite the severity of the pathology, the correctly selected remedy facilitated the expulsion of a 2.9 cm stone, demonstrating the body’s innate healing power when properly stimulated.
Dr. Samuel Hahnemann emphasized that homeopathy is a divine science, capable of producing extraordinary results when applied correctly. This case reaffirms that homeopathy, guided by the principle of simillimum, holds the potential to address even seemingly insurmountable conditions. It serves as a reminder never to underestimate the healing power of homeopathy and to always strive for the simillimum to achieve miraculous outcomes.
