One Nation says Victoria’s incoming Royal Commission into construction corruption must be prepared to investigate former premiers Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan if evidence shows they were involved, warning that no one should be protected from scrutiny.

The demand came at One Nation’s Victorian election campaign launch, where the party placed crime and corruption at the top of its priorities and promised a Royal Commission under a One Nation government would have “teeth”.

Asked directly whether the inquiry would investigate and hold Allan and Andrews accountable, One Nation Victorian leader Warren Pickering gave a clear answer.

“Look, if they are found to be a part of that corruption, absolutely,” Pickering said.

“Well, that’s what I meant when I said heads need to roll, mate. Absolutely.”

One Nation will introduce a Royal Commission into Victoria’s Big Build to investigate the management of these projects, examine allegations of misconduct, and ensure every taxpayer dollar is accounted for.

The comments come as Victoria prepares for a Royal Commission into allegations of corruption and criminal infiltration of the state’s construction industry.

Premier Ben Carroll announced the inquiry on 28 July, shortly after replacing Allan, who resigned as premier ahead of a leadership spill she was widely expected to lose. The government has also announced a special prosecutor to work alongside the commission and flagged expanded “follow-the-money” powers for IBAC.

The inquiry follows years of allegations surrounding Victoria’s construction sector, including claims of intimidation, extortion, inflated labour costs, ghost shifts and organised crime links. The CFMEU’s construction division has been under administration since 2024.

The scandal has also raised questions about government oversight of the industry and the billions of dollars being spent on Victoria’s major infrastructure projects.

Andrews was premier for most of the period in which Victoria’s major Big Build projects were being delivered, while Allan held senior transport and infrastructure portfolios under his government before becoming premier herself.

One Nation’s position is that if evidence connects either former premier to corruption, they should face the same scrutiny as anyone else.

Pickering said a One Nation government had already identified people who had held senior positions within government organisations who could potentially be brought into ministerial advisory roles.

“We believe these people know where the pervertible bodies are buried,” he said. “We believe they may have an axe to grind and we’d like to give them a shovel.”

The party’s attack extends beyond the construction scandal, with Pauline Hanson accusing Labor and the Liberals of failing Victorians while becoming more concerned with retaining power.

“Both the political parties, the Labor and the Liberal Party, are very concerned about the polling of One Nation,” Hanson said. “They’re very concerned about keeping their power and positions. They have failed the people of this state.”

“We are here as ordinary Australians, standing up fighting for our state, our country. We want it back.”

One Nation is also campaigning heavily on crime, with Hanson saying people from the police force had approached the party about becoming candidates.

“That tells you something,” she said. “This state is a basket case when it comes to crime, and that needs to be addressed.”

The party plans to release its full crime policy in the coming weeks, including proposals to recruit more police, fill unmanned stations and establish a reserve force for periods of increased activity.

The party also dismissed any suggestion that Allan’s departure would make One Nation’s task easier or harder, saying Labor had simply changed leaders.

“They’ve just moved the decks on the Titanic. It’s still sinking,” Hanson said.

With the November election approaching, One Nation says it intends to campaign on crime, corruption, farming, energy and cost-of-living issues while seeking to govern in its own right.
