Shadow of the Road Needs More Time

Another Angle Games and publisher Owlcat Games have announced a delay for Shadow of the Road, pushing the upcoming tactical RPG’s release from November 2026 to March 10, 2027. The developers say the additional time will allow them to address remaining issues and refine the experience before launch.

Set in 19th-century Japan, Shadow of the Road combines tactical combat with party progression, challenging players to make thoughtful decisions during battles. According to the developers, the delay will help them improve several key aspects of the gameplay, particularly combat balance and the tactical systems that shape each encounter.

The team is focusing on making positioning, initiative, and ability selection more meaningful during combat. The goal is to ensure that every battle rewards careful planning rather than relying solely on brute force. These changes should also give players more opportunities to experiment with different strategies and adapt to the challenges they encounter.

Party progression is another area receiving attention. The developers are working to make character development more engaging, encouraging players to explore different skills and build strategies around their party’s strengths. This should provide greater flexibility and make tactical decisions more rewarding throughout the adventure.

Although the delay means players will have to wait a little longer, the developers have confirmed that more trailers and details about the game’s world are on the way.

Shadow of the Road is now scheduled to launch on March 10, 2027. While the extended wait may disappoint fans looking forward to its original release window, the extra development time could help the team deliver a more polished and satisfying tactical RPG experience.
