Aug. 24 (UPI) — UPS announced on Monday an ongoing investment of $2 billion in international, healthcare and supply chain businesses to blockist with global flexibility.
Projects that UPS is currently working on include a new hub at the Clark Airport in the Philippines, a new facility in Barrie, Ontario, Canada and a new air hub at Hong Kong International Airport.
“Customers need end-to-end logistics that match their requirements for visibility, speed and ease,” Kate Gutman, UPS executive vice president and president international, healthcare and supply chain solutions, said in a statement. “These investments allow us to bring air, ground, brokerage and distribution together in one solution, with fewer handoffs, more end-to-end control and less complexity.”
The hub at Clark Airport is set to open later this year and the hub in Hong Kong is expected to open in 2028. The new facility in Canada is scheduled to open next year.
The ongoing investments announced in UPS press release began in 2024. The company said these investments are meant to help businesses “move faster and navigate shifting trade routes, evolving regulations and supply chain uncertainty with greater flexibility and connectivity.”
“These investments are really aligned to one of our big strategic areas of focus, which is creating capabilities to enable our customers, particularly in complex industries, to more effectively run their global supply chains,” Scott Szwast, UPS vice president of international strategy, told CNBC.
Alongside these projects, UPS has also launched a logistics center in Taiwan and a supply chain solutions facility in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam facility works on freight, brokerage and cold-chain solutions.
UPS has recently invested in 27 temperature-controlled freight cross-dock facilities for shipments that require specific temperature maintenance.
