Ontario trucking company stripped of licence over safety violations

Brampton, Ont., lorded over by Mayor “Sneaky” Patrick Brown, is home to numerous shady trucking companies employing horribly incompetent drivers. The end result: carnage on the road.

But for now, at least one such trucking company is no longer in business. We speak of LD Trans Line Ltd.

The crux of the matter is that LD Trans Line was recently stripped of its Ontario operating licence. LD’s sins were many, including countless safety violations and falsifying the number of hours drivers were on the road.

And according to a Toronto Sun report, drivers at LD continued to cook the books even after one of the company’s drivers caused a fatal multi-vehicle pileup in January 2025.

Michael Beauchesne, an adjudicator for the Licence Appeal Tribunal, stated: “In my view, the persistent nature of these defects — and the fact they involve multiple drivers — points to a systemic issue that betrays a concerning level of apathy towards safety and affords reason to believe, having regard to the appellant’s safety record, that it will not operate a commercial motor vehicle safely or in accordance with this Act, the regulations and other laws relating to highway safety.

“In fact, the events of January 15, 2025 — which involved several hours-of-service violations that preceded a 15-vehicle collision involving 16 people and a fatality — serve to underscore a striking failure in the appellant’s highway safety performance. While I accept this is an isolated incident, I nevertheless agree it figures prominently when viewed against the violation history of the appellant, which features repeated hours-of-service violations.”

LD Trans Line had appealed to the tribunal after its certificate of operation was revoked in January of this year by the Registrar of Vehicles. This came after the company was charged with eight additional road safety convictions in 2025. At the time, the Registrar called the carrier “the worst of the worst.” Indeed, LD had an overall violation rate of more than 100% and had been in non-compliance since 2024.

LD’s owner, Mandeep Singh, argued he had taken steps to improve the safety of his fleet since the tragic accident. This included reducing the number of trucks from eight to three, conducting semi-annual inspections and monthly maintenance checks, implementing driver training and using a better electronic system to monitor his drivers’ hours on the road.

Yet, despite these measures, the safety record of LD didn’t improve – rather, its safety record further deteriorated!

Rebel News reached out to Singh via email for comment but we never received a response.

So it was that we decided to pay a house call to the company. For starters, we were shocked to discover that the LD Trans Line HQ is not located in an industrial complex. Rather, head office is a residential house in a quiet neighbourhood.

Also notable is that the house was empty and there was a for sale sign on the lawn.

It would appear that LD Trans Line is what the Ontario Trucking Association calls a “chameleon carrier.” A chameleon carrier is a commercial trucking company that shuts down after receiving safety violations, financial penalties, and/or out-of-service orders. Then the company illegally reopens under a new name and it is business as usual.

Thus, the question arises: will Mandeep Singh start a new trucking company in the weeks ahead? And will his incompetent drivers simply wait for that new company to be incorporated? Or perhaps they have already joined another fly-by-night trucking company in the meantime?

Time will tell, but we expect LD Trans Line Ltd. to get back into the trucking game sporting a new moniker. And if that does indeed happen, expect the carnage on the road to continue. Bottom line: the system is broken and needs to be fixed ASAP.
